and currently have no access to anything (apart fro crap computer sounds) ...for many years i heard usic on yamaha ax 550 but that has gone kaput, so too has philips twin dac cd player (whatever that means). lovely pair of (long owned) rogers speakers waiting to receive input.
i sort of know some of you from before and i respect your knowledge re quality music reproduction. i am female and not very tehnical when it comes to machinery but i SO appreciate GOOD reproduction. i suppose the question i am asking is "What do i need to get beautiful sound at both ends of high and low volume".
Never mind if you don't recall Ms Purple ...she started off being Ms blue i think.
Do you have a suggestion for a good amp that will transmit clarity at both high and low volume and also a good cd player. I am not at all technical but I want/need a replacement for defunct equipment and I also need/want good quality. I was thinking about the Yamaha AS300 (I think it was that)- I don't have an ipod and the docking station with the AS500 (I think) seemed to me to be the only difference. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
Having worked as a repair guy many, many years ago, I can recommend Yamaha - they are very well built and engineered! The Yamaha AS300 sells for about £200 - £250. Just make sure that the amp is at least as powerful as the rating for the speakers, to avoid clipping, which can damage the tweeters.
Sorry about the delay, but I have been extremely busy - I haven't looked in since the last posting above!
